Student Community Support

Student Community Support (SCS) is a student-led initiative designed to tackle anti-social behaviour during busy times of the university year. The initiative, which was formerly known as “Student Patrol”, was launched in 2009 as part of a wider effort to rebrand RAG Week into R&G Week and increase student safety in the area surrounding college during times when alcohol consumption and anti-social behaviour are at their highest, namely Fresher’s and R&G Weeks.

The initiative is run in conjunction with the University and an Garda Síochána. The purpose of SCS is support the welfare and safety of students and to help maintain the cleanliness of the areas surrounding UCC. SCS to date has been successful in improving relations with residents and there have been countless incidents where it has proven invaluable to vulnerable students on their way home.

If you would like to be involved in SCS, or have any further enquiries, then please contact the SCS coordinator at deputy@uccsu.ie.
