On November 20th, UCC Students’ Union stands in solidarity with the transgender, non-binary, and genderfluid community to observe Transgender Remembrance Day. This day is a time to remember and honor the lives lost to transphobic violence, discrimination, and hatred. It is also an opportunity to reflect on the struggles faced by gender-diverse individuals, from social exclusion to the ongoing fight for legal and healthcare rights.

At UCCSU, we are committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students, regardless of gender identity. Transgender Remembrance Day serves as a reminder of the importance of standing together as a community, amplifying the voices of those who have been silenced, and ensuring that we are all part of creating a world where everyone can live authentically and without fear.

We remember those lost, but also reaffirm our commitment to advocating for equality, safety, and acceptance for transgender and gender-nonconforming people. Together, we can work towards a future where everyone is respected and valued for who they are
